New activated carbons adapted to ultrafiltration membranes

In the field of drinking water production and the production of certain ultrapure water for industrial use (pharmaceuticals, electronics, etc.), PICA, working in conjunction with Veolia Water Solutions and Technologies, has developed a solution known as OPALINE® based on the combination of membrane technology and activated carbon filtration. Activated carbons eliminate pesticides and organic materials through adsorption while membranes target turbidity and microorganisms.

Two options are now available:

  • OPALINE® S: there are 2 separate adsorption phases ; the activated carbon phase and the membrane filtration stage. The carbon used is either granular (for a filtration bed) or powder form (for a suspended solution).

  • OPALINE® R: the activated carbon adsorption phase is connected to filtration by submerged membranes. The carbon used is injected in powdered form.
