Encompassing air

The quality of air inside buildings, public places, and transportation vehicles is not only an issue of comfort, but also of safety and public health. In many cases, the problem may be resolved through the use of activated carbon filters.

Solutions:

  • Air purification in sensitive industrial buildings:

The "clean rooms" that one might see in pharmaceutical laboratories or the electronics industry are subject to very strict requirements for ambient air, not only for the comfort and safety of personnel, but also because air quality can have an impact on the quality of industrial production. In this respect, PICA has developed a specialized activated carbon in granular form, used to filter air to achieve maximum purity.

  • Deodorization of treatment plants:

The treatment of waste water and sewage treatment sludge are operations which, by their very nature, generate noxious odors. The solution to guarantee proper working conditions for the personnel of these plants consists in equipping the facilities with a high-performance air ventilation and purification system based on the use of granular activated carbon filters connected to a depressurization system preventing air from escaping into the atmosphere.

  • Air conditioning in public spaces

Certain public spaces are located near malodorous gas emissions: office adjoining a plant or factory, airport terminals, etc. By equipping their air conditioning systems with activated carbon filters, usually coconut-shell based, the air circulating inside these facilities is constantly purified.

  • Automobile cabins

So that automobile passengers can breathe pure air, even while in the middle of a traffic jam, automobile manufacturers are constantly testing new filters. PICA actively participates in this research through its partnerships.

This has led the company to offer two options: specific activated carbons (coconut base) with a very low contact time, which may be connected with a particle filter, or sponges impregnated with activated carbons.
