PICA has made sustainable development a guiding value for its operations on several levels; sustainable development allows PICA to harmoniously conjugate improved performance and the development of solutions that are respectful of the environment.
The materials used by PICA are, for the most part, comprised of natural carbon sources (wood and coconut) that are perfectly renewable, unlike mineral sources (coal, anthracite, bituminous) which are fossil fuels.
Moreover, the majority of PICA activated carbons developed in this way is used for purification or decontamination purposes. In this way, their applications help preserve our health and our living environment, thereby serving as part of sustainable development.
PICA is also dedicated to developing a global vision of product life cycle, namely ensuring that its partners and subcontractors adhere to these common values, a vision that today drives PICA to demand that its suppliers do not employ child labor.
Similarly, PICA is driven to control and integrate environmental impacts associated with the processing and regeneration procedures of its products, which are implemented in several of its sites. The company's three certified sites (Vierzon, France; Columbus, Ohio, USA; Basiano, Italy) have come to meet stringent standards in terms of gas and liquid wastes in the natural environment.
Finally, situation permitting, PICA favors the recycling of used carbons. This solution, always preferable to disposal, is proposed more and more frequently, thanks to the efforts undertaken by PICA to bolster its capacity in this area. Recycling allows PICA to act in greater harmony with its clients in an environmental management process (ISO 14001).
