High quality products

PICA activated carbons have unique qualities that contribute to their high quality:

  • Specific surface areas of 700 to 2,500 m2 per gram ;
  • CCl4 indices, correlated with the butane index, of 50 to150 % ;
  • Granulometry for ASTM sieves of Mesh 4 to Mesh 100 for granules or sizes ranging from 0.5 to 3 mm, or particles measuring some dozen microns for powders ;
  • A percentage of rejected or lost material which may be reduced to extremely low levels (less than 2%, for example) and internal granulometric distribution of particles ;
  • High resistance to attrition, which minimizes the loss of fines (catalyst recovery of gold or precious metals);
  • Availability of powders of varied porosity for use with different compounds to be adsorbed and adjusted for purity as required by the applications and regulatory standards.
