Most PICA activated carbon bases are carbonized by our partner/suppliers to reduce their volume by 50%, before they are routed to PICA expert sites in Vierzon - France (70%), Columbus, Ohio - USA (20%), and Basiano - Italy (10%).
At these sites, the processing of activated carbons is completed through post-treatment and re-treatment (sieving, pulverizing, grinding, impregnation).
Approximately1/3 of the activated carbons produced by PICA is also activated in advance at its Vierzon expert site.
Whether the carbon is in the form of powder (PAC) or granules (GAC), it is packaged in a way that facilitates its transport and handling.
Therefore, GAC used in large-scale filters is transported and loaded in tankers.
In other cases, it may be packaged in bulk sacks weighing as much as 800 kg or in cardboard containers or metal drums.
It may also be transported in bags on pallets (10 to 25 kg per bag).
